2015 Turning 65?

Turning 65 Checklist

As you get closer to Medicare eligibility, you’ll need to start thinking about the important choices you’ll have to make as a new Medicare beneficiary.

Those decisions can include:

  • Understanding Medicare – You can use our Medicare basics guide to walk through the different parts of Medicare, including information about your coverage and benefit options, when you can enroll, and how to enroll in a Medicare plan.
  • Comparing Medicare Plan Options – Depending on your healthcare needs and budget, you may need additional benefits that you may not receive with Medicare Part A and Part B of Original Medicare.
  • Meeting Enrollment Deadlines – If you are turning 65 or are newly eligible for Medicare, you may have a certain timeframe for which you can enroll in a Medicare or Medicare Advantage plan outside of the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP). Most likely; this time frame is three months prior to your 65th birthday month and three months after your 65th birthday month. If you have missed this window the Annual Enrollment Period for 2015 Medicare plans is October 1, 2014 through December 7, 2014.
